Whether you’re new to quilting or have been stitching for years, everyone is welcome at the Kempenfelt Quilters’ Guild!
Membership is $50 per year and gives you the opportunity to take part in our guild programs, workshops, social activities, special events, and quilting community throughout the year.
Not ready to commit to a membership? Guests are always welcome! Come join us for an evening and see what we’re all about for just $10 per visit.
Meetings are at Lions Gate Banquet Hall, 386 Blake Street, Barrie, generally on the third Thursday of the month from 7–9 p.m.
Come for the quilting, stay for the friendships!
What We Do Best
Something for Every Quilter
Our guild meetings offer much more than a chance to get together. Throughout the year, members can enjoy:
- Guest speakers sharing their knowledge, creativity and quilting expertise
- Demonstration nights where members can learn new techniques and skills
- Member trunk shows featuring quilts and projects from within our own guild
- Workshops offering opportunities to explore new techniques and projects
- Social events and potluck gatherings
- Sewing days where members can work together on projects and enjoy some creative time
- Opportunities to participate in quilt shows, challenges and other quilting activities
Our goal is to create an environment where quilters can continue to learn and be inspired, regardless of their experience level
Stitching for Our Community
Becoming a member of KQG is about more than attending meetings and learning new quilting techniques. It’s also an opportunity to create alongside others and give back through the craft you love.
Throughout the year, members have opportunities to participate in our charitable initiatives by sewing, quilting, donating materials or lending a hand with group projects. Whether you complete an entire quilt or contribute just a small part, every stitch helps.
Participation is always about coming together as a guild, sharing our talents and using quilting to bring a little more comfort and kindness into our community.
Always Something New
Our Program Director is always finding new ways to keep things fresh, fun and inspiring at KQG. From bringing in talented and unexpected guest speakers to dreaming up creative challenges that push us outside our comfort zones, there’s always something new to look forward to.
Whether we’re learning a technique we’ve never tried, discovering a new approach to quilting, or taking on a challenge that makes us say “Wait… we’re supposed to make WHAT?!” , our programs are designed to spark creativity and keep us excited about quilting.
At KQG, we don’t just follow the pattern, we’re always looking for ways to colour outside the lines!
